Zanjoe Marudo admits that he’s attracted to Cristine Reyes

When ABS-CBN.com visited the set of the Kristine series at Mahogany Market in Tagaytay last April 28, the chemistry between Zanjoe Marudo and Cristine Reyes was definitely noticeable. They were shooting a riot scene wherein Zanjoe will save Cristine. They would get really get close to each other even off cam. Asked if it’s possible for him to develop romantic feelings towards a co-star, the actor didn’t deny that it happens even to the best of people. “Siguro naman, lalo na kung matagal kayong magkasama. Tao lang naman tayo hindi natin masasabi ‘yan ‘di ba? Siyempre naa-attract ka sa tao kapag nakakasama mo at nakikita mo palagi,” he began.

But Zanjoe stressed that he is nothing but professional and respectful when it comes to working with his newest leading lady. “Katulad ng sinasabi ng ibang artista, sino ba naman ang hindi magkakagusto kay Cristine? Sa sandaling magkakasama kami, siyempre nakikilala mo yung tao, naiintriga ka sa kanya, gusto mo siya maging ka-close kasi kami yung magka-love team e. So dapat okay yung working relationship namin. Siguro trabaho muna para mas mag-focus kami sa character namin tsaka sa love team namin.”

As a matter of fact, they have been so immersed in their work that they have barely time to bond except during lunch and dinner breaks. “Kung may higaan sa balikat? Wala, mataas yung balikat ko e. Hahaha! Hindi ano, sabay-sabay kaming kumakain o kaya sa standby area habang naghihintay ng eksena, habang nagse-set up, minsan nagkukwentuhan. E si Cristine tahimik na tao. Kung tahimik ako mas tahimik siya.” What he likes the most about her, though, is that she’s very easy to work with. “Wala siyang kaarte-arte kahit anong eksena namin at kahit anong ipagawa sa kanya. As in wala akong masabi. Parang mas maarte pa nga ako kung tutuusin, kasi laki ako sa aircon eh,” he joked.

But even though he admires Cristine’s beauty inside and out, Zanjoe maintained that there’s no reason for his girlfriend Mariel Rodriguez to be jealous of his lovely co-star. “Hindi naman siya magseselos kasi trabaho ito e, alam niya yun. Tsaka very supportive naman siya. Number one fan ko yun e.”

In the meantime, Zanjoe can’t wait for the Kristine series to be launched on ABS-CBN, saying that the cast and the staff of the show have really worked hand in hand to make it the best Precious Hearts Romances TV adaptation. “Parang wala kang itatapon dito e. Halos lahat malalaking eksena, halos lahat magaganda. Wala pa akong nagagawa na kahit simpleng eksena lang na usap lang or ano. Kaya nga kahit ako excited. Bale itong kinunan namin ngayon, ito yung isa sa mga unang scenes na makikita yung character ko na si Bernard de Silva. Maganda yung twists ng storya kaya sana abangan talaga ito ng mga Kapamilya viewers natin,” he stressed.
