Sarah defends parents against issues

POP star Sarah Geronimo answers back on issues thrown to her parents.

In a television interview with the singer, she admitted that her family is affected with issues circulating the entertainment circle.

Sarah said her parents only have good intentions in her life and they shouldn't be dragged in the issue.

"Syempre magulang ko yun eh and meron bang magulang na gustong mapahamak ang kanilang anak. Yung mga taong malawak ang pagiisip eh naiintindihan naman nila yun," she said.

The pop star is constantly linked to actor/dancer Rayver Cruz who is very frank in saying that he likes Sarah.

But reports said that just last month the two broke up after the singer's parents didn't permit her to enter any relationship as of the moment.

The issue even came to a blast when Rayver himself graced an interview and said that he had a talk with Sarah's father.

With all the happenings in her life, Sarah said that prayer is their ultimate refuge right now.

She added that she doesn't feel guilty with anything because those people around her know the real story.

Sarah also said that their family is much closer now than ever.

"Syempre dumaraan na tayo sa ganyang pagsubok pero hindi naman nawawala yung pagiging intact ng relationship ng pamilya namin."

Though saddened with the issues thrown at her, Sarah knows that everything is part of being in the showbizness.

The singer is only hoping that people will stop making rumors and just be happy.

Angel spends time with Aga

KAPAMILYA actress Angel Locsin is excited with her upcoming movie with no less than Aga Muhlach.

She shared they have been spending time together so that they will feel comfortable towards each other when the shooting finally stars.

The actor, added Angel, is very professional and easy to work with.

"Kahit ang tagal nya na sa showbiz eh walang bahid ng kayabangan," she said.

Angel is nervous and excited all at the same time because the movie opposite Aga will be directed by acclaim director Olivia Lamasan.

She assures the public though that the story is one of a kind and it is something the movie goers should look forward to.

When asked on her preparations for the upcoming movie, Angel said she's been training and running hard.

She said it feels good knowing that she's physically, mentally, and emotionally fit in doing this movie.

Angel also doesn't mind the age difference between her and Aga. She said they are not doing the movie to show the viewers a new love team but to give justice to the story.

"Ang tao naman eh matalino at alam nila na hindi ito yung sa love team. More than that eh nasa story talaga."

Aside for this movie project with Aga, the management is also cooking up more projects for Angel this year.

Dennis gustong magkaanak kay Jennylyn

Kung hindi pa nakunan sina Dennis Trillo at Jennylyn Mercado noong nakaraang Holy Week na magka-holding hands habang namamasyal sa Hong Kong, hindi pa malalaman ng buong sambayanan na sila na pala ngayon.

“Since nakunan na nga kami ng letrato sa Hong Kong, we both decided na magsalita na about our real relationship. Kasi parang useless pang mag-deny, kitang-kita na ang ebidensya.

“At saka ayoko ring i-deny si Jenn dahil mahal ko siya talaga. Halos pareho kami ng personalidad ni Jennylyn. Pareho kaming simple at tahimik lang. We both love music and kids. “It’s still too early to think of babies right now. Isa pa, maliliit pa pareho ang mga anak namin at pareho pa naming itong inaalagaan.

“But someday, why not? Lalo na kung kami talaga ang magkakatuluyan in the future. It will be nice to have our very own baby. And I really wish na magtagal kami. Iba siya sa lahat ng babaing minahal ko dati,” sagot ni Dennis.

For Aljur, it's not sayang na sayang

MANILA, Philippines - Aljur Abrenica was nursing a throat infection when he showed up for the launch of his self-titled album. Had he followed doctor’s orders, Aljur shouldn’t have sung a single song for press people that steamy afternoon. He shouldn’t have granted lengthy interviews because his doctors, again, warned him against it.

But Aljur can’t help but break the rules.

“My big break has finally come,” he explains the adrenalin rush. “Now’s my chance to show my talent and the reason why where I am now.”

Thanks to the album, Aljur has come full circle. He is also the new MYX Celebrity VJ (he appears in Mellow MYX from May 16 to 22 and will read all requests in My MYX on May 23 to 29).

He is, after all, a chip off the old block. Aljur’s dad supported the family by touring with his band.

“When I learned I was about to sign a contract with Sony Music and GMA Records for the album, I broke the good news to my dad,” recalls Aljur. The giant labels put together a CD of original songs and remakes for their new artist. It tapped seasoned and upcoming songwriters like Nino Regalado, Alwyn Cruz, Jude Gitamanondoc, Panji, Melvin Morallos, Jonathan Ong and Michael V.

Thus, not even a previous throat infection for which he went into rehab, can stop Aljur from singing one of the tracks, of which Sayang na Sayang is his favorite.

Why single out this track about lost chances and longing for an old love?

“I can relate to it,” Aljur replies without batting an eyelash.

Does it have something to do with the coming break-up of his loveteam with perennial partner Kris Bernal? GMA Network decided to pair them off with other partners.

“Perhaps,” he answers cryptically.

Their impending separation Aljur adds, is more of a career move than anything else.

“Kris and I were shocked when we learned we had to part ways,” Aljur admits.

“We’ve been a love team for three years now and I will always care for her like a brother would.”

They’re more than friends, less than lovers. And Kris trusts Aljur’s judgment enough to get his go-signal in entertaining a suitor or not.

“Kris has many suitors,” Aljur relates. “She lets me judge them one by one. No one has passed my standards, though.”

Yes, he does feel a tinge of jealousy. Kris, he says, is his baby and he can’t stand it if someone else will take care of her the way he has been doing all these years.

“I will miss many things we always do,” he says. “She knows I’m just here for her.”

So, don’t let those sad songs in his new CD (e.g. Di Na Ako Aasa Pa, Kailan Kaya and Sayang na Sayang) deceive you.

AIZA CERTIFIED INT’L RECORDING ARTIST

MOST child stars fade into oblivion when they grow up so Aiza Seguerra is so thankful that she's still very much active in showbiz mainly as a singer. If she became a teen actress, would she have also come out about her sexual preference? "I think so," she says. "Noon pa naman, kita nang hindi ako girl. Imagine, nang mag-church wedding ang parents ko, ako ang ring bearer. May girl bang ganun? At saka hindi rin ako makakatagal kasi noong pine-pair ako kay Spencer Reyes, nanghihilakbot ako tuwing hahawakan niya ko."

She's grateful that the public has accepted her sexual orientation. She and her girlfriend Chen have been on for six years now. "Ang dami talagang blessings na dapat kong ipagpasalamat. Tulad nitong chance to sing and release my album in Singapore and various other Asian countries. Hindi ko naman hiningi ito pero kusang binigay ni Lord."

Her first album, "Open Arms, Asian Edition" is certified platinum. It was also released in Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea. The reception is great so she's now releasing her second Asian album, "Perhaps Love," launched at Odyssey Megamall last Tuesday and in "ASAP" this Sunday. "All the songs here are for easy listening, which is what the Singapore record execs want. Cogie junks matinee idol image

Last time Cogie Domingo was in the news, he was embroiled in two sizzling controversies: A lawsuit that his mother filed against a director (“still ongoing,” he says) and the very public discord between politician Chavit Singson and live-in partner Che Tiongson.

He was out of sight for a while, but now he’s determined to do well on his return to show biz. Before he “disappeared,” he had been touted as one of the most promising young dramatic actors of his generation.

Although his name was dragged as the third party in the Singson-Tiongson scandal, Cogie kept mum, while his father denied the rumor outright.

Wishing to start on a clean slate, he made certain to clear matters with Singson first. “We’re now okay,” Cogie says. He declined to comment on Tiongson.

Cogie is set to do shows with ABS-CBN, GMA 7 and TV5. And for his first big-screen role in four years, he is chucking his matinee-idol image for the role of a closeted gay lawyer in “Muli,” directed by Adolfo Alix Jr.

Cogie previously worked with Alix who was a writer on his GMA 7 soap “Kung Mawawala Ka.” In “Muli,” Cogie will have intimate scenes with award-winning young actor Sid Lucero.

The two will play secret lovers who remain committed to each other through the turbulent decades of Philippine history: From the presidency of Diosdado Macapagal to that of his daughter, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

“My first question to Direk Adolf was about the love scenes,” says Cogie. “I have no idea ...” Adolf gave him the Oscar-winning films “Brokeback Mountain” and “Milk” as guide.

Noel Ferrer, Domingo’s manager, said that he was inspired by the 1978 film “Same Time, Next Year” in conceptualizing “Muli” with Jerry Gracio, who penned the script which won second place in last year’s Palanca Awards.

Ripe for teenage superstardom

After making heads turn as part of GMA-7’s "First Time," with her role as Natalie Dimaculangan, Bea Binene has successfully crossed over that "Starstruck Kids" finalist tag by proving to one and all that she is serious about acting.

Just 12 years old but already a stunner in her own right, Bea says, "Kung dati po parang laro lang ang lahat, ngayon po I feel that I need to do my best so that the public will take me more seriously and hopefully like me."

The tweener says she loves this business and she feels that she has learned a lot already in the short span of time that she has been there. She also cherishes every role, every show she has appeared into. Currently, the rising star is a regular co-host in the new Kapuso Sunday show "Party Pilipinas." She will be seen next in the cast of the upcoming "Pilyang Kerubin" with another ‘tween star: Barbie Forteza.

In 2004 she was a contestant for "StarStruck Kids" and finished as one of its finalists. After that she had stints with the sitcom "Bahay Mo Ba ‘To" and the series "Lovely Day." She played the character Junabeth Mulingtapang and did hosting.

The Kapuso kid, being managed by GMA Artist Center, never ceases to improve herself. "Gusto ko pong maging magaling sa acting, singing, hosting at sa martial arts," she enumerates.

Interestingly, Bea is a wushu enthusiast and will soon join a national competition. She loves the sport and she doesn’t see her gender as hindrance to her goal of winning in competitions.

The same tenacity is seen in her showbiz work. She takes each role to heart and often gets rewarded with praises, just like with her work as young Mimay in "Kaputol Ng Isang Awit" in 2008.

She singled out the likes of Miley Cyrus, Ashley Tisdale and Regine Velasquez as influences when doing her thing on screen. She points out "I want to be known as an actress."

Zoren proud to be 'househusband'

AGUA Bendita star Zoren Legazpi is not affected when people call him househusband, saying there are times in a family life that a man must substitute for the role of his wife.

"In my case, it was true. Househusband talaga ako and I'm proud of it," the actor said in a television interview.

He added that he is not affected by the moniker and his duty as a father was recalled at home when they need someone to take care of their twins.

"The reason na hindi ako binigyan ng maraming opportunities noong bata pa ang mga kambal, para may magbantay kahit isa sa amin ni Carmina," he said.

Zoren said he is very thankful because he was given the opportunity to see how his kids grow.

He also feels elated as many people are saying good things about his parenting skills.

As he made his comeback in showbiz, Zoren pointed out that his main career priority right now is to perfect his hosting skills.

"Mga nine years ago, I wanted to host a show. May ginawa ako but it was not aired, pero maganda ang show," he recalled.

"Pumunta ako ng America and iba-iba ginawa ko doon para maihatid ang America sa Pilipinas," he stressed, adding that he loves coming back and working with Kapamilya stars.

The actor furthered he is open to work with BB Gandanghari, then Rustom Padilla and former husband of his wife Carmina.

He revealed of writing a movie script for BB, adding that everything is doing well between BB and his family.

Iza Calzado denies wedding rumors

KAPUSO actress Iza Calzado said she is not yet ready to walk down the aisle following the buzz in entertainment circle that wedding plans now loom between her and her long time boyfriend Atticus King.

"Sorry alam kong maraming uubo dito pero sa tingin ko eh bata pa ako, wala pa sa isip namin yun," she said.

"Marami pa akong dapat isipin at asikasuhin at marami pa ang nasa balikat ko," she added.

Despite the circulating talks, she pointed out that she tried not to be affected and is currently enjoying her relationship with King.

She also noted King's respect to her and her family.

"Kaya happy ako na nakikita din ng family ko especially my dad na nire-respeto ako ng taong mga malalapit sa akin," she said.

Iza recently won the Movie Actress of the Year award for Drama category during the 7th Golden Screen Awards for her film "Dukot", where she was escorted by her boyfriend during the event. (

No joke to play twin roles

Andi Eigenmann, who plays the twin characters Agua and Bendita in the Kapamilya fantasy-drama series, said she finds her roles so challenging that she sometimes asks herself why she accepted them.

“It’s my first acting job, gano’n na agad kahirap ang naibigay sa akin. Kakayanin ko ba? But then it also makes me think that, maybe, the roles were given to me because my bosses believe in me,” she told Inquirer Entertainment at the recent launch of The Ramp Crossings, which she endorses.

“I also know that my parents will be with me every step of the way,” said the daughter of award-winning actors Mark Gil and Jaclyn Jose.

Andi plays the twin sisters—Bendita, who is normal, and Agua, who has a physical defect.

The sisters become bitter rivals until a twist of fate reverses their situations.

“At first, I thought playing Bendita would be more challenging,” said Andi. “I didn’t see myself as a kontrabida. But when we started taping, the production team said I was good as Bendita. Mas madali kasi maging mataray.”

Andi recently signed up a three-picture deal with Regal Films. She will start working on her first film, “Madir,” where she plays Eugene Domingo’s rebellious daughter.

She will also join the cast of the remake of “Temptation Island,” and the horror trilogy “Shake, Rattle and Roll 12.”

Born Andrea Eigenmann, Andi, 17, is Mark’s fourth child to join show biz. Her half-siblings Gabby, Maxine and Timothy (who goes by the screen name Sid Lucero) have appeared in TV shows or movies in the past years.

She hopes to work with her Kuya Sid someday. “That would be an even greater challenge for me. Kuya Sid is a really good actor, kapatid ko pa siya,” she stressed

Jake Cuenca, Sam Pinto together again

Why did Jake Cuenca lose the chance to become Sam Pinto’s boyfriend in the recent past? Because he knew he couldn’t handle it.

“I had a lot on my plate at that time. I was involved in a big issue with (ex-girlfriend) Roxanne Guinoo. I was being romantically linked to Bea Alonzo. I was also just starting to work on a major project, ‘Tayong Dalawa.’ I had to attend to my responsibilities first,” said the 22-year-old actor, who added that he’d known Pinto, a 2009 “Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up” housemate, for the past six years.

The two have appeared in past TV commercials.

“I was touched when she publicly admitted that we were dating. It meant that she took our relationship seriously,” Cuenca told Inquirer Entertainment. “I never denied that we had something going on, I just chose to keep quiet about it.”

However, he clarified that they parted as friends. “Now that she’s also an actress, she is starting to understand why I did what I did. She’s cool about it. Sam told me that she had no idea being an artista was this hard,” Cuenca said.

Leading lady

But now she gets to play his leading lady in “Elias Paniki,” part four of the series “Agimat: Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla” on the Kapamilya network.

Apparently Cuenca is glad to be working with Pinto. “We are now able to spend more time together because of the long taping hours for this show,” he said.

At a press launch last week, ABS-CBN announced who will portray Revilla Sr.’s other popular characters—with EJ Falcon as “Pepeng Kuryente,” Joem Bascon as “Bianong Bulag,” Enchong Dee as “Boy Putik” and Revilla’s grandson Jolo Revilla as “Kapitan Inggo.”

The first three in the series were “Tiagong Akyat,” which featured Gerald Anderson; “Tonyong Bayawak,” with Coco Martin; and “Pepeng Agimat” with Jolo Revilla.

Extraordinary powers

Directed by Dondon Santos, “Elias Paniki” is about Elias and the extraordinary powers he got from a bat. He uses these powers to fight evil.

Cuenca has finished working on the show’s first three weeks. He’s very pleased with the footage he has viewed. “There are quite a number of action scenes here. Different ‘Agimat’ stories feature different disciplines. Here it’s mostly Muay Thai. I had to train for over a month before taping,” he said.

“I’m feeling the pressure since the other shows have all been successful, he added. “That’s why I’m giving my very best to this project. The fight scenes are all very truthful. I’ve got bruises and scratches to show.”

“Elias Paniki” premieres May 29 on ABS-CBN and also features Cherry Pie Picache, Kelly Misa, Xian Lim, Jojit Lorenzo and Hermes Bautista.

Maxene, haharapin si Pauleen

Magkaiba ang tono ng tweets nina Pauleen Luna at Maxene Magalona noong Sabado at ang dating sa amin ng tweet ni Pauleen ay reaction sa mahabang na-post ni Pia Magalona sa kanyang Facebook account last Saturday din.

Nauna ang tweet ni Pauleen na “I just wanna clear that I never claimed that the girls (Ampalaya Anonymous) were referring to me with their tweets until some of their friends confirmed it. Also, this isn’t publicity because in the first place, I’m not the bread winner of the family & being in showbusiness is purely my choice.”

Heto naman ang tweet ni Maxene kay Pauleen: “Hi! See you at the workshop on Monday (today). Hope we could talk then. Dapat ’di ba deretso tayo sa isa’t isa. ’Di ko nga alam paano napunta sa media lahat nito, eh! Take care see you!”

Magkasama sina Maxene at Pauleen sa Bakit Kay Tagal ng Sandali at makakatulong sa kanilang trabaho, staff at sa director kung ’di sila nagkakailangan at nag-iiwasan sa taping.

Anne, inaming may bagong boylet

Sa presscon ng bagong endorsement ni Anne Curtis na Natasha, inamin ng young actress na nagde-date sila ng kapatid ng friend niyang si Solen Heusaff, si Erwan. Actually, matagal nang nali-link sa kanya ang guy na ito pero ayon sa dalaga, as much as possible ay ayaw niya itong pag-usapan dahil hindi naman taga-showbiz.

“Ayoko kasi pag-usapan kasi kawawa naman ’yung tao, nadadamay. Let’s give respect na lang sa kanya at sa family niya.”

Sa ngayon ay nasa dating stage pa lang sila at okay naman daw so far ang kanilang samahan. Ewan kung ikatutuwa ni Sam Milby, inamin din ni Anne na malaki ang chance na maging boyfriend niya si Erwan.

“Meron naman siyang chance sa akin, malaki, of course. You’ll never know. Ayoko pa bigyan ng date or anything. Basta ayoko na lang pag-usapan. Kasi naawa ako sa tao, hindi naman niya business ang showbiz,” sabi pa ng young actress.

Tungkol naman kay Sam, ayon kay Anne ay tuloy pa rin ang communication nila, super-close pa rin daw sila at hindi naman daw nila sinasara ang pinto sa isa’t isa for a reconciliation.

NAGPAUNLAK kahapon ng interbyu si Willie Revillame kay Cristy Fermin para sa programang Paparazzi ng TV5 at nilinaw ng TV host/actor ang ilang isyung ibinabato sa kanya.

Aalis na ba si Willie sa Wowowee? Kaya bang talikuran ng TV host ang P25 million na kinikita niya buwan-buwan sa programa?

“Hindi naman lahat, eh, pera--pera lang. Ang importante, eh, kung masaya ka. Walang amount of money o halaga pagdating sa ganyang bagay. Ang importante talaga ay kung masaya ang puso mo,” pahayag ni Willie.

Idinagdag din ni Willie na hindi pa talaga siya umaalis sa show at nagbabakasyon lang siya ngayon.

“Hindi pa ako umaalis. Basta, malalaman naman ng lahat ang desisyon ko. May takdang panahon para diyan,” dagdag pa niya.

“Ako po’y magbabakasyon lang... Huwag n’yo po akong iiwan. Ipagdasal n’yo po na maging maayos ang lahat ng ito,” hirit pa ulit ni Willie.

Sa unang bahagi ng interbyu ni Tita Cristy, nabanggit ni Willie na nami-miss niya ang mga taong nanonood ng kanyang programa.

“Nami-miss ko ’yung tao, hindi ’yung programa... Sana maintindihan nila ako ngayon.

Eh, kelan ba siya babalik sa show?

“Pinag-aaralan ko lahat. Pinag-iisipan ko lahat. Kung ano ba ang gusto kong gawin ngayon sa buhay ko? Kasi, hindi pera-pera lang ’yan, eh. Kasi, kahit kumikita ka nang malaki, kung hindi ka naman gusto ng tao. Basta ako, ang binibigyan ko ng importansya dito ay ’yung tao,” tugon ulit ng TV host.

Eh, kay Jobert Sucaldito, ano ang masasabi niya?

“Ayoko ng pag-usapan ’yan. Wala naman akong galit kahit kanino. ’Yung mga panahon na ’yon, siguro, pagod ako sa kampanya kaya ganu’n... Wala na rin akong pakialam kahit siraan pa o tirahin nila ako sa internet,” sambit pa niya.

Samantala, aminado si Willie na may mga pagkakataong lumalabas talaga ang kanyang kabangan.

“Eh, talagang mayabang ako, eh. Palaban kasi ako sa buhay... Mahirap naman ’yung nagbabait-baitan ako.

“Totoo akong tao, eh, ’Yon ang nararamdaman ko. Mahirap ’yung kokontrolin mo ang sarili mo kasi baka lalo kang magkasakit. Basta, totoo lang naman ako sa nararamdaman ko,” pag-amin pa niya.
