MANILA, Philippines - Action star Robin Padilla is rooting for Bagumbayan's Richard Gordon for president and Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino/PDP-Laban's Jejomar "Jojo" Binay for vice-president.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Padilla, who used to be known as the Bad Boy of Philippine Cinema, made a last-minute endorsement of a mixed tandem.
"Hindi pa tayo nabibigyan ng absolute pardon. Wala pa tayong civil right [para bumoto]. Opinion ko, gusto ko, si Gordon and Binay ako," Padilla said.
Padilla served time after he was found guilty for illegal possession of firearms.
He is currently shooting his first film with Toni Gonzaga under Star Cinema.
In an unrelated development, a conservative political party has asked a local court to stop all commercials and advertisements of Padilla promoting condoms.
Ang Kapatiran senatorial candidate Atty. Jo Imbong filed on Friday at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office an injunction case against the condom ads of DKT company featuring Robin Padilla.
Imbong, together with Atty. James Imbong, asked the Court to stop the proliferation of condom ads on television, radio, web and billboards featuring Padilla as the endorser.
The complaint filed by the two lawyers stated that the ads promoting condoms and condom use to all audiences, regardless of age, insults the sacredness of sexuality, the sanctity of marriage, and ultimately imperils the institution of the family.
